English PT3 new format 2019

This is the most awaited thing to know since the ministry introduced CEFR - the PT3 format!

 Surely, with the introduction of CEFR, the PT3 bound to change.  The changes in the format are as indicated in the table. There are numerous blog posts and fb post that already make some comments on this new format, so I don't want to elaborate further.

CEFR Lesson Plan for Form 1 and Form 2 with drop down menu

I am sharing my lesson plan. Of course it is already embedded with drop down menu which I found the most convenient way to quicken our lesson plan writing.

The original LP is from CEFR Malaysia telegram group and I already made some adaptation to suit my panel lesson plan. It is standardize to all our members.

Writing Technique : Apply 42211

This is a writing technique shared by one of Excellent Teacher in my district. I have asked my students to use it and it helps a lot in intermediate and weaker students as it gives outline in what students need to write.

All my students face the same problem in writing as they can not generate ideas to write in English. So using this formula, they can manage to write.

When developing ideas, students may write about :

·         4 descriptions of a place / event / person / activity / surrounding

·         2 actions done

·         2 senses (things seen, smelt, touched, tasted or heard)

·         1 feeling

·         1 wish / hope

Example :

Last week, I went to Jinjang Waterfall (place). The waterfall was very beautiful (D1/description 1). It was quite high (D2). There were two small waterfalls beside Jinjang Waterfall (D3). There were also many beautiful flowers near the waterfall (D4). My brother and I swam at the waterfall (action).  We tried to catch a fish with our hand but we failed (action). The water was very clear (sight). It was also very cold (touch). I felt happy (feeling). I wished my father could swim with us (wish).

3 Waja PBS B2 DL1 E1

For this instrument, I asked my students to bring one of their favourite item and presented it to class. I just selected 3/4 students per period and continued teaching after presentations were over. I have learnt from my previous experiences that my students' attention span were short so that was why I did not want the whole period was dedicated for presentation only. 

These pictures were taken  during my 3 Waja presentation. Some of them brought soft toys, books, diaries and the one that was not prepared enough just used their watch or school bag. Though they tried hard to make it interesting.

B2 DL1 E1- talk about experience

There is no handout for this instrument as I just instruct my students to bring one of their favourite item (a topic of one's choice in the DSP) to class and present to their friends about it. I adjusted the questions to suit my students. The original is from syedshahrol's blog that I have mentioned in Band 1.

 I used this page from the textbook and ask my students to write about a biography of Tun Abdul Razak in their exercise book. Refer to textbook page 25. Topic 2 Heroes Near and Far.

Lesson Material - Colour Poem

I got this idea while browsing the internet. I think it is from englishoasis.

It is a great time filler and I sometimes use this when I enter relief class. My students enjoyed the activity and it is great for lower class too.

What do you have to do is asks students to think of their favourite colour and fill in the poem.

___________ smells like ________________,

Sound like a __________________________,

Looks like a __________________________,

Feels like a __________________________ ,

Taste like a ________________________ .

Then, I ask students to list out items of their colour.

PBS Instrument English Form 3 Band 1

I made my own PBS instruments because I did not have any instrument for my Form 3 classes. I had been searching in the internet but discover only this Syedsyahrul's blog.

 I made the instrument based on the DSP and one book that been given by our book supplier.

Lesson Materials : Jobs / occupation

This year I've been assigned to teach Form 2. It has been two years since the last time I teach this Form and that time I haven't get the insight to file my notes and worksheets for my lesson. So right now I'm scrambling franticly to assemble lesson materials to make my lesson lively and interesting. 

I'm not a kind of teacher that depend heavily on the textbook because I find it quite boring and when I went through most of my students' textbook, there already been jot down with answers from previous year students and many more doodles. 

Sigh.

So, right now I'm searching high and low for lesson materials and there are some I would like to share.
